So I tend to go through these technology swings about every four months. Its a trend that I am trying to jump out of and here is the reason. I am kinda a tech addict and that is not just a byproduct of going to Georgia Tech. Since I realized that the internet had a bunch of cool things, I wanted them. I think the first thing that ever caught my attention heavily was when I was looking for a mp3 player back in the day. I was trying to buy a Sansa m230 and I payed something like $85 for a 512MB player back in 2006. So when your throwing around that much money you don't want to buy the wrong product. Therefore I started doing massive amounts of research before buying the player. I cannot attribute my lusting after technology to come solely from this purchase but it was one of the starting points.
In the past years I have done massive amounts of research before buying any product, in recent years I have don't so much research that I can talk myself out of spending the money. That is the phase that I am in right now because I really wanted a e-reader last year at this time, but the options were weak.
Kindle from Amazon is too proprietary for me, kinda like Apple, making it so you can only use their store and other stuff. The Kindle also will not let you load ePud books and therefore it won't work with Google Books. So back then I started doing my search for some off brand model but came up empty handed. The Nook Color was too expensive and I didn't want a tablet or some mini tablet because I already had an iPhone, the Sony selection was way too weak and Koko too cheap.
But when I got free internet here in Hydra, Greece I caught up on my tech readings and fell in love with the Simple Touch Nook. Its a e-reader with the eInk display so it is easy to read pdfs and books, also its also Barnes and Noble so it has some ties with Tech. Another thing that has me hooked on this product at the moment is the promise of eye strain free reading. I really hate reading long passages or articles from a computer monitor, therefore why not go out and buy a device that is purpose made to make reading more like paper.
Ok no more ramblins
All is Great in Hydra, Greece

One slight reservation is that Amazon should be coming out with the Kindle 4 in the coming months, so Ill back burner my e-reader purchase for a few weeks.
